Mobile phone
A mobile phone, cellular phone, cell phone, cellphone, or hand phone, sometimes shortened to simply mobile, cell or just phone, is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency link while the user is moving within a telephone service area.
In 1983, the DynaTAC 8000x was the first commercially available handheld mobile phone.
Martin Cooper of Motorola made the first publicized handheld mobile phone call on a prototype DynaTAC model on 3 April 1973. This is a reenactment in 2007.
Types
1. Smartphone
A phone which can do multi-purpose work (including music, video, cameras, and gaming), making call and receiving.
2. Feature phone
A basic mobile phone which is only capable of voice calling and text messaging.
Hardware
The common components found on all mobile phones are:
1. Central processing unit (CPU)
The CPU is a microprocessor fabricated on a metal–oxide–semiconductor (MOS) integrated circuit (IC) chip.
A Brain of a mobile phone.
2. Battery
The power source for the phone functions. A modern handset typically uses a lithium-ion battery.
3. keypad
Allow the user to interact with the phone.
4. Display
Use to display the function operated on a phone like displays text messages, contacts, and more. The display is typically either a liquid-crystal display (LCD) or organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display.
5. Speaker and Receiver
speaker for output of sound and receiver for receiving a sound.
6. Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards
The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device.
Used to identify and authenticate subscribers on mobile telephony devices (such as mobile phones and computers).
7. Notification LED
Used to notification of some function in phone like charging.
Software
Feature phones have basic software platforms.
Smartphones have advanced software platforms.
Mobile App
A mobile app is a computer program designed to run on a mobile device, such as a smartphone. The term "app" is a shortening of the term "software application"
